Setting Young Smiles On The Right Path

Early orthodontic evaluation and interceptive treatment, otherwise known as Phase I, allows us to evaluate your child as they’re growing and get ahead of issues that can be addressed early.

Identify Development Concerns Early

Doing an evaluation of your child around age 7 allows the orthodontist to identify problems like crowding (a lack space in the mouth), crossbites, over/underbites, or narrow arches or palettes which can benefit from early treatment to help guide the jaw and teeth into healthy alignment.

Guide Growth While You’re Still Growing

When an issue is identified early, the orthodontist can use palatal expanders, space maintainers, or other appliances and treatment to gently guide the child’s jaw and teeth into alignment while they’re still growing and it’s much easier to address. This type of Phase I treatment is typically completed from the ages of 6-10 and then the child will come back when they’re older to complete treatment (Phase II).

Reduce the Need for More Complex Treatment Later

By guiding growth, creating space and correcting misalignments early on, we can help prevent the need for more expensive, complex treatment later on because the child is still growing. This often leads to shorter, simpler treatment later on and can help reduce the need for extractions, surgery and more complex treatment later on.

Phase II: The Final Stretch

Bringing Everything into Its Final Position

Phase I

Phase I typically occurs from 6-10 years of age and is designed to correct issues correlated to jaw development and spacing early in a child’s life when they’re the most malleable and still growing. The child will undergo an evaluation, and if necessary, receive early intervention like palatal expanders or space maintainers to correct these issues early and allow for the adult teeth to grow into place.

Phase II

Phase II is the comprehensive stage of treatment. This phase typically begins when all of the adult teeth have erupted and focuses primarily on aligning and straightening the smile for long-lasting results.

Orthodontics for Teens in Boulder, CO

Built for Growing Smiles and Busy Lives

Many orthodontic patients begin treatment during their teen years, once most adult teeth have erupted. At Climb Orthodontics, we offer both braces and clear aligners, creating personalized options that support each teen’s lifestyle, confidence, and individuality.

Traditional braces are a proven method of straightening teeth. They allow for control and precision without the worries of compliance, while giving your teen the option to choose colorful elastic bands to showcase their personality while in treatment. This method is chosen by millions of families for its predictable outcomes, speed and affordability.

Angel clear aligners are designed to straighten teeth with a discreet, modern approach. These comfortable, removable aligners are a popular choice thanks to their nearly invisible appearance and the flexibility to take them out for eating, brushing, and daily routines, making treatment easy to fit into a wide range of lifestyles.

If a child does not wear their aligners as prescribed, the teeth may stop moving as planned or shift in the wrong direction. This can slow progress, extend treatment time, and sometimes require new aligners to get treatment back on track.
